Obsessions

One thing you may not know about me is that I don't just like something. If I really like something, I go all out and it becomes an obsession for a short while. Here are the current ones....

Menchie's Frozen Yogurt. I'm obsessed and the only thing stopping me from visiting this place several times a week is the fact that there isn't a location near my house, which is probably better off. Love it.

This song. It's called Crazy Girl by Eli Young Band. Absolutely obsessed and secretly hoping someone dedicates this song to me someday :)

Words With Friends. I've been waiting for this game to be available on my Android since the day I got it. It's finally here and I am hooked. I have about 10 games going on at all times. Let's play....AmandaLynn512 :)

My cowboy boots. I've had these for about a year and have only worn them a few times. I made the executive decision about a week ago that I am going to incorporate these into my wardrobe at least once a week. They make me happy and I feel like I could take over the world when I wear them.

Quaker Oatmeal Squares. Healthy and absolutely delicious = perfection!

That is all. Hope you all have a lovely weekend!

Freak Magnet

Sometimes, I like to visit downtown Orlando on a Friday or Saturday night. I wouldn’t say I go very often, maybe once every few weeks and have really only started going out down there in the last year or so. There are some bars there I really love and it’s always a good place to go with the girls.

As much fun as I always have when I go downtown, I have to comment on how much of a freak magnet I am. I wouldn’t say I look very different from most 24-year-old females so I don't know why this happens to me, but when I am downtown with a group of my friends, it seems I always leave with a story of a guy doing something ridiculous to me. My other friends are getting hit on by successful, respectful men, which is always flattering, even if you are in a relationship. Not me…

Incident #1

I was downtown several months ago with my guy friend from high school and three or four of his friends…all guys. Walking down the sidewalk on our way to the car at the end of the night, a nasty old man pulled my hair as I walked by. Creep.

Incident #2

A few weeks ago, I was at a bar with my friends and their boyfriends. I wasn’t drinking, wasn’t really drawing attention to myself. I was standing, having a conversation with my friends when a random guy ran by and smacked my ass so hard I thought he left a handprint. I did not know this guy. I hadn’t even seen him earlier in the evening. He didn’t even stay around long enough for me to look at him in shock or scream at him. It was truly a hit and run.

Incident #3

This one happened just a few nights ago. We were nearing the end of the night, which always means we are at The Lodge, one of my very favorite downtown bars. I was drinking water, sober, but was almost able to say I had gone downtown without any inappropriate situations like the ones above. There are three guys about my age standing next to me at the bar. One is holding a case of beer he just ordered, the other one is about to shotgun a beer and the third guy is just making small talk with me. I am not exactly looking to meet a guy right now judging by the fact that I really like The Red Sox Fan, but they are entertaining. I cheer on the one as he shotguns his beer. He proceeds to slam the beer down on the bar, which sprays all over my arm. The next thing I know, the guy I had been chatting with is licking the beer off of my arm. WTF?

I’m sure I’m not the only person who goes downtown on a Saturday night and ends up with one of these stories, but it never fails to entertain me. I’m just a freak magnet…what else can I say?

A Sweet Valentine’s Day Tradition

Whether you love or hate Valentine’s Day, it doesn’t matter. What does matter is all the yummy goodness you get to bake and eat. Last year, I started a tradition of making Red Velvet Cupcakes for Valentine’s Day and couldn’t wait to make them again this year.

I absolutely love to bake, but try to not bake too often because if I did that I would never lose weight. So today I set out to carry on my new tradition. I even found the most adorable sprinkles and gift boxes!
Overall, the cupcakes were a huge success, aside from the fact that after I put the cupcakes in the oven, I realized I forgot some of the most important ingredients, like cocoa powder and baking soda. I must’ve been really distracted, because I completely skipped that step and panicked when I realized what I did. I had to quickly take them out of the oven and dump each cupcake back into the bowl, then add the missing ingredients. Lesson learned: don’t start baking right after you wake up in the morning until you’ve at least had a cup of coffee or something.

It looked like an accident scene in my kitchen, red cupcake batter splattered all over the place in my attempt to save the cupcakes. I had batter in my hair, on my socks, the windows, the kitchen cabinets….it was ugly.

I am relieved to say that they still turned out great and my homemade cream cheese frosting was a huge success. .

I hope your Valentine's Day is full of sweetness!

Quote Love

I'm a quote fanatic and just wanted to share of few of my favorites today...

"Life is like riding a bicycle. To keep your balance you must keep moving." Albert Einstein

"In three words I can sum up everything I've learned about life; It goes on." Robert Frost

"The tragedy of life is not that it ends so soon, but that we wait so long to begin it." W. M. Lewis

"Do not lose hold of your dreams or aspirations. For if you do, you may still exist but you have ceased to live." Henry David Thoreau

Make the most of yourself for that is all there is to you." Ralph Waldo Emerson

“Be who you are and say what you feel because those who mind don't matter and those who matter don't mind.” Dr. Seuss

"You never lose by loving. You always lose by holding back." Barbara De Angelis
